Hotel Review: Sheraton Seoul D Cube City

I stayed in this hotel during the New Year’s Eve, this hotel is not located in the city center but is right next to a metro station. It takes around 30 mins by metro to go to the main action in Seoul. However, there is a big and stylish shopping mall connected to the hotel. There are many shops, restaurants and a cinema. It is good enough for couple of hours of shopping.

I sent an email prior to my stay, I requested to have a room upgrade as a gold SPG member but was declined. However, I asked if I could use 1000 Starpoints to get a room upgrade to a club room. Then they replied a typical answer –> “subject to availability”.

When I arrived at the hotel’s front desk, I asked for the room upgrade. The staff said the club rooms are fully booked! So I said if I could use 1000 Starpoints to have the club lounge access, and I got a yes. The club room and normal room has no different, all of the rooms are located on the high floors. Therefore, you can definitely get a good view of the city. In my opinion, 1000 Starpoints for a free afternoon tea and breakfast is really a good deal. As a Gold SPG member, I was given a choice between 250 starpoints and 1 free drink. I took the drink and I used it in the fit restaurant.

After I went up to my room for 15 mins, the lady from concierge knocked on my door and walked in to give me a petite birthday cake. She had a chat with me about my upcoming activities in Seoul. I also asked her to recommend where I could go for the New Year’s Eve countdown.

The room size has 30 something square meter, which is large enough for 2 people. There is a bath tub and a separate shower in the bathroom. I notice that some rooms do not come with a bath tub, but a mini steam room is installed. Funny! ** I forgot to take the bathroom photos 😦 **

The pre-dinner snack starts at 5:30pm, so I went to the shopping mall to walk around and had lunch. I went back to the hotel at 5:45pm and went straight to the lounge. The lounge is incredible, the evening spread is adequate.

This hotel has a unique elevator design. As the lobby is located on the top floor, whenever you want to go back to your room, you have to travel all the way up to the top floor and walk few steps to go to another side to take the lift and go down to your floor.

Overall, I enjoy my hotel stay very much. The design is very stylish and clean, a typical 5 star hotel. I wish I could have stayed in here for a longer period of time.
